Holly Landrum Peay
Senior Research Public Health Analyst
Dr. Peay is a Senior Research Scientist in the GenOmics, Bioinformatics, and Translational Research Center at RTI International. Dr. Peay conducts social/behavioral and empirical bioethics research related to common and rare disorders. Areas of focus for Dr. Peay are genetic disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions, HIV, gene therapy and gene editing, and newborn screening. She has expertise in studying decision-making processes, decision motivations, perceptions of benefits and harms, and informed consent in research and clinical settings. Dr. Peay develops evidence-based behavioral interventions that are informed by ethical theory. She is experienced in embedding social/behavioral research into clinical research studies. Dr. Peay frequently conducts community-engaged research in which she integrates diverse stakeholders into study planning, implementation, reporting, and the development of recommendations or guidance.

Dr. Henderson is a professor of Social Medicine at the School of Medicine and adjunct professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A medical sociologist with training in public health, she has extensive experience with interdisciplinary research and teaching. She was Department Chair from 2009 to 2015, Director of the UNC Center for Genomics and Society (CGS) from 2007-2019, and CoDirector of the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) International Core from 2004-2014. Henderson was the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) Editor of the journal, Genetics in Medicine, from 2009-2017, and was a Member of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) Advisory Council from 2016-2019
